"Anything in excess has consequences. Common substances like table salt and aspirin are harmless with normal use, but excessive intake can become toxic and even life-threatening. With normal responsible usage, silver supplements are entirely harmless to humans."

the world's largest clinical research center for pediatric drugs,

"Silver has been in the drinking water and food supply for thousands of years. It is a commonly occurring mineral that is considered harmless by the US Government when responsible limits on silver intake are maintained. Silver supplements have been used by millions of people, yet reports of the skin discoloration called argyria are very rare; it occurs only with excessive intake. As with anything, reasonable limits are required. These guidelines provide a method for easily determining safe usage limits for any silver supplement." (italics, bold, underline added)

The safety of colloidal silver has been well documented by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) for many years now. The guidelines for the safe limit of a daily intake of silver are called the "Reference Dose" (RfD). The RfD is specifically intended to keep the silver intake below any level that would discolor the skin. The EPA levels are so low that potential harm can only occur after ingesting an amount of silver that far exceeds the stated guidelines and one that is of low quality.
To reap the immune system benefits of colloidal silver without any risk of argyria, look for a silver suspension containing the smallest particles of silver. Here are some characteristics to look for in an ideal colloidal silver product to reap the health benefits while avoiding argyria:
- Small particle size. Particle size should be about 10 ppm (parts-per-million. Go with a smaller ppm and take more if needed. However, ppm are only part of the equation. Particle size is much more than ppm. Every particle that comes in contact with a pathogen, deactivates the microbe. So, if you have a solution containing 1 ppm and that is one large particle, then the silver's effectiveness would be limited to 1 pathogen. However, if you take that large particle and break it into a million particles then that 1 ppm now can destroy 1 million pathogens. Multiply that with a higher ppm count and you can see the importance of Micro-particle Colloidal Silver.
- Particle size of the silver is measured in nanometers or even Angstroms. This small particle size is the ideal uptake in your tiny cells since the cells cannot ingest particles that are much larger. Our silver is approx. .0008 microns or .8 nanometers in size!
A high quality colloidal silver solution itself should be produced in a controlled environment (including light, temperature, current, and time control) and the result should be a product that is totally clear. Avoid any solution that is amber or yellow-colored because that may be evidence that the particle size is too large or that the water is contaminated. Colloidal silver solutions should be sold in light-protected glass bottles.
Reference Dose (RfD)
The safe dose for colloidal silver can be calculated using 3 simple formulas based on 3 different scenarios. (Colloidal Silver is perfectly safe for human use. Remember, the only risk of taking Colloidal Silver is argyria which is extremely rare and caused by massive consumption of a low quality product.)
The following formulas below are brought to you as a public service of the Silver Safety Committee.
1. Using it daily your whole life
The maximum number of drops of a silver supplement to consume per day when using it on an ongoing daily basis every day of your whole life (up to 70 years or 25,567 days of ongoing daily use)
12 x (your weight in lbs.) / (ppm of the solution) = # drops per day
Take your weight and multiply it by 12. Then divide that produce by the ppm of the Colloidal Silver your using. The answer is the number of drops you can take every day for an entire lifetime! 1 drop = 1/80 teaspoon.
Example:
200 lb. man taking a 10ppm Colloidal Silver solution.
12 x 200 / 10 = 240 drops or 3 tsp every day for a lifetime.
2. Short Term Use-Using it on a short-term basis
The maximum number of drops of a silver supplement to consume per day when using it on a short-term basis for short-term goals as desired.
As a general guideline, try to limit your usage at this “short-term use” level to about 10 days per month.
Take your weight and multiply it by 120. Then divide that produce by the ppm of the Colloidal Silver your using. The answer is the number of drops you can take every day for an entire lifetime! 1 drop = 1/80 teaspoon.
Example:
200 lb. man taking a 10ppm Colloidal Silver solution.
120 x 200 / 10 = 2400 drops or 30 tsp (10 Tbsp) per day.
3. Entire Lifetime
306,600 x (your weight in lbs.) / (ppm of the solution) = # drops (over your entire lifetime)
You should not consume large quantities of silver in a short period of time. The EPA RfD refers
to ongoing daily use for 70 years (#1). The body needs time to assimilate and eliminate what it
needs to, which is the reason to also follow the general guideline for short-term use (#2). This
figure in #3 represents the “daily use” limit (#1) used every day for 70 years. While it’s impractical
to precisely monitor your entire lifetime usage, this figure provides a useful guideline for
responsible usage limits. (It also shows how generally safe silver supplements are, since very
few people will ever approach this level with responsible use throughout their entire lifetime.)
Take your weight and multiply it by 306,600. Then divide that produce by the ppm of the Colloidal Silver your using. The answer is the maximum number of drops you should not exceed over an entire lifetime! 1 drop = 1/80 teaspoon.
Example:
200 lb. man taking a 10ppm Colloidal Silver solution.
306,600 x 200 / 10 = 61,320,000 drops or 766,500 tsp (2,994 gallons) over a lifetime.*
